The thing I've learnt so far on this thread is how bad that seatbelt analogy is to a CHAPS payment.

The highlight for me in this thread was how banks can misplace money regardless of the systems in place. As if all banks are responsible for the dappy staff member at Lloyds and the duff procedure followed.0

Anybody short of a supernatural being can make a mistake.
The bank needs to apologise, refund fees and pay compensation for the trouble and anxiety caused to the customer.
What is worrying is the time it seems to have taken to establish what exactly happened?1
