Not sure if this has already been covered, apologies if it has.
Can see Octopus have a tracker traiff available - https://octopus.energy/tracker.
Appears even though it is a tracker, the prices are capped. This is what is in their FAQ
Additionally, we have introduced a maximum cap on Tracker prices at 55p / kWh of electricity and 16p / kWh for gas
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are.0

It has been discussed ad nauseum. It if suits you, then go for it before Octopus increases the maximum Cap.1

It says that there is currently a waiting list, but when you follow the link, it just takes you to a phone number: there doesn't seem to be any way to join the waiting list online. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I've seen a few people manage to sign up via Twitter. Dropped them a DM and they took all my details to sign me up.macman said:It says that there is currently a waiting list, but when you follow the link, it just takes you to a phone number: there doesn't seem to be any way to join the waiting list online.

Thank you for that, does that include getting on the list for a smart meter? Tweeted them, everything crossed.
Does anyone know if the installers are better trained in reality now (heard horrible stories of fires caused by installation even last year - Octopus says their installers are highly trained but thought I'd check lol)

Not sure, first question I was asked was whether I have a smart meter, which I do.deannagone said:Thank you for that, does that include getting on the list for a smart meter?

It seems there are meter fitting teams with availability in some areas, not in others. It's the usual postcode lottery.
If you don't get a smart meter fitted Octopus will simply ask for monthly meter readings and average your energy use out over the days. As the rates aren't changing daily at the moment and are always at the cap, this really doesn't make a difference.
Previously, if the price was cheaper one day you might have put a couple of loads of washing through and baked a cake, now it doesn't matter what day of the month it is, price is static.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Yes, tweeted and been told no appts at all in my area. But at least its some sort of response.
Thank you for the update on how this tariff works, I did wonder as I know Octopus trialed it, but did have doubts myself as to how often unit price is cheap enough to make a difference.1 -
I signed up to Tracker by e-mailing them, just using the hello@octopus.energy address.1

That (applying by email) appears to apply only if you are an existing Octopus customer? No free lunch, and no free laptop
