EDF IS NOT OFFERING ANY FIXED DEALS TO EXISTING CUSTOMERS

EDF unlike EON is not offering any exisitng deals to existing customers whose fixed deal is ending on 31/08/22. Just a standard variable tariff!

They are just stating that due to the market volotility they are not offering any fixed deals!

Have tried British Gas, EON and others for fixed tariffs but no joy.

Has anyone found themselves in the same situation and any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!

THE MARKET IS TOO VOLATILE AND THE PRICE CAP THAT OFGEM HAS SET DOES NOT COVER THEIR COSTS.....SO IM NOT SURPRISED.

Caps off sadly the time to fix has potentially long gone.
  • I had noticed the same in my EDF account for the last week or so. I'm not suprised either. Being the pessimistic type I took a fix several months ago despite most people saying it would never get this bad, and suggested that friends and family do the same. Needless to say they didnt share my pessimism.

Im with BG, my fix ends at the end of September. I've been checking frequently over the last few weeks and they're not offering me any fixes, I'll just have to go onto the SVT, and pray

The good news is I fixed with EDF for gas a few months ago at 11.19 plus daily charge.  The bad news is we have just bought a pile in the Cotswolds and only has electric. We will now need to pay the exit fee of £100. Oh well that's life!

If it was that short a time ago, you'll likely have to pay £100 per fuel to leave EDF.

You won’t have to pay the exit fee if you move house & you can take your tariff with you. I know you don’t have gas at the new property but they may still let you keep the tariff for your electricity if you go with them for your new house. Certainly worth a try.
  • I had an awful experience with EDF years ago and promised I would never join them again but got switched when Green Network Energy closed down. I presume I must have had time to switch at one point but thought the smaller suppliers were going to go bust. I don't trust EDF at all.

I took a two-year EDF fix in June, but (unlike you) I was far from sure that it was the right thing to do at the time and definitely regarded it as a gamble.

I wasn't sure either, and indeed it felt like gambling (which I hate and usually avoid). I took the view in the end that it was worth paying 20% extra per unit over the summer months where we use very little as affordable 'insurance' against potentially much more than a the April forecast of ~20% rise over the next two winters. Looking at the £150 exit fee as less than 10% of our 'annual premium' made it even more palatable at the time.

Aside from any future government meddling which may or may not happen, its currently looking like it may be the first ever gamble during my lifetime thus far which hasn't been to my detriment. Of course it's only delayed the inevitable but buys some breathing space to prepare for and adjust to the inevitable long term rises.
