Eon statements

I have to say, after being with British Gas, Scottish Power and Purple Power, EON set a new (low) bar for understandable statements

I seem to have 3 for the same period, a 90 day statement and individual statements and "reverse charges"...

I had loads of reverse charges on my statement - no idea what they mean - then they sent me an email saying they had calculated the gas using the wrong figures and would shortly send a new invoice.  That was about a week ago; heard nothing since.

Pretty sure it means "this previously billed figure is superseded so forget it existed". That's what it means on my BG one anyway.
  • Just to be clear is this Eon or Eon Next?

todays leccy reading minus the February reading give a useage of 1158 units, the rate went up within the 6 months but using todays 30/unit give £347 for (say) 180 days? 180 days S/C 48p/day gives  £86, a total of £433

Ive paid £499 yet im £87 in debt?

    Good day

on 11/02/22 my meter reading was 11509

on 22/08/22 my meter reading was 12638

    useage = 1129 kwh (units)

Using todays rate of 27.86p/unit i make that £314.50 for electric

the period was 192 days, at the current standing charge of 48.13p per day i make that £92.16

so a total of £406 (these are todays rates, they may have been lower in February, ive not checked)

In the same period my account has been charged total of £578.98 yet i appear to be £87 in debt?

    Can you explain?

    thanks

  • they are robbing people
I had a big issue with them. following happened:
July I had normal statement where I was around 50 in debt and they billed me for july use based on smart meter readings
Start of August they sent me a bill with usage from May 22 to June 22 and March 21 to July 21.
Even though I was already billed for those periods.
They sent to back billing team who after 3 weeks said back billing does not apply and my current balance of £214 in debt is correct. They did nothing via complaint and now I got omudsan involved but it will take 12 weeks for that and I may not get my money back. they taken extra 180 from me. I move out in 2 weeks also. so glad to get rid of them

    (quote from Which)

    https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/energy-companies/article/energy-company-reviews/eon-next-asTGf4U1ggxU#eon-nexts-customer-service

'Eon Next is a new sustainability-driven gas and electricity supplier in the energy market and a new part of the Eon Group.

It was set up in 2020 and says it offers customers 100% renewable electricity, transparent billing, no exit fees as well as a dedicated team of energy specialists so you get a more personal, faster and easier service.

Eon took over Npower's customers when it ceased trading in 2019. It started migrating around 2 million former Npower customers as well as 3.5 million existing Eon customers over to Eon Next in July 2020.'

My experience of Eon next has been positive - billing has been without fault coming up to a year with them.  Monthly reads have been taken (via smart meter) and manual reads.  I get a monthly bill and all payments are itemised correctly with the bill correctly calculated using the correct monthly reads.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful other than to ask whether you have considered going to a monthly payment system - be it fixed direct debit or variable DD (whole of bill payment)?  Might be easier to keep a track of things.

You have already described this here

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6380211/ofgem-back-billing-rules-and-eon-next/p1

They are not robbing you. You have used the energy they want to charge you.

You think they should not be able to do that because you believe that this falls under back billing rules, their special team for back billing says it is not the case. Most people in the thread said it is most likely not back billing.

If the ombudsman decides in your favour this will be due to a specific rule to protect a customer from unexpected high bills, but not because you did not use the energy they want payment for.
