Please could someone help with Octopus Agile? So confused!
So I am currently on Flexible Avro with Octopus which is:
Electricity: 28.01p per kWh and SC 41.98p per day
Gas: 7.34p per kWh and SC 27.22p per day
Obviously the above will be increasing following today's announcement

My understanding is Agile fluctuates throughout the day allowing you to take advantage of any cheaper rates at quieter times and there is a cap on what you pay. I have tried looking for data on how these rates have been changing recently but it looks as though they are just staying at the cap? Is anyone on Agile who could confirm this please?

Even if they would be at the cap of 55p 24/7 this will be cheaper from January than the cap.1

Yes, the last few weeks have been pretty much pinned at the cap. This is due to the very high wholesale price. As pointed out above, the 55p Agile limit will be cheaper than the Ofgem price cap from January, and is cheaper than standard fixed rates currently being offered by Octopus.Data is viewable here (varies by region):Heading into autumn when wind generation picks up prices might have lower periods, but i'm not expecting significant drops.

Thank you both. It's that thing of not knowing what to do for the best. If I move to it now I'll be paying higher prices than I currently am, but then I'm likely to be hit with that from Jan anyway like you say. The fixed rate they're offering me at the moment is 67.89p /kWh, so I tempted by Agile.0

To go on Agile you need to have a stable smart meter that Octopus can get the 30 minute reads from.
As said above, at the moment it's basically a 55p/kWh fix as the prices are so high. At least on Agile if the prices do start to drop, you get the benefit straight away.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

They've been reading my smart meters half hourly for a while now, so hopefully that should be fine. Fingers crossed we do a get a drop! The news today is so depressing.Alnat1 said:To go on Agile you need to have a stable smart meter that Octopus can get the 30 minute reads from.

Go for it then.
If you have gas with Octopus, have a look at Tracker. Works in a similar way but price is set daily rather than each 30 mins.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Can sign up for it now and have 28 days to confirm T+C before tariff changes, they will honour 55pkWh cap as long as sign up starts before they launch any higher capped version.jr5678 said:Thank you both. I’m struggling to get my husband to agree. He thinks they won’t honour the 55p cap when OFGEM cap goes above this as it’s not technically a fixed deal.bristolleedsfan said:

I'm on the previous version capped at 35p, they're honouring that. Ask him what's he got to lose? If they don't honour you haven't lost anything, if they do then it's going to save you a considerable amount of money.jr5678 said:
