Golf Holiday

Hi
seven friends and myself are due to fly next Thursday to Turkey for a golf holiday .Tuesday evening we had a meeting to sort out the last few issues but unfortunately when my friend Andrew got home there was a Ambulance parked outside his house with his wife in it.
She had acute pain in her liver, the next day she had a emergency operation , she is now in the ICU unit.
obviously Andrew doesn't want to go now but none of us are quite sure of his options.
Could anyone advise on what to do.

depending on the T&Cs it may be possible to have someone else go in his place.  And that person pays Andrew's share.

Or he can claim via his travel insurance as this seems a perfectly reasonable reason for not travelling and should be covered.  He (or the person whose policy it is) may not get a complete refund as obviously there will be the deductible.  And maybe the flight but not the hotel as there's the rest of you in that suite still.  But worth an ask.

He should be able to claim for any loss from his travel insurance policy .
