For good measure you can add a preamble sentence that the defendant agrees the proceedings were not sent to your usual residential address,  the details of which were on their file. 

I'd not be thinking of the court fee as loss of money, so much as an investment to preserve your credit score.  I'm no Martin Lewis,  but that may be critical for all of us as times get harder and rates increase.
