Ath_Wat said:The problem is you are giving me nothing except "I prefer it" to explain why you prefer it. You don't have to explain, of course, but if you don't explain then don't be surprised if I continue to be mystified as to why anyone would prefer to fit their life round television rather than fit television round their life. You don't do that with reading, do you?
Maybe they don't want to see spoilers, maybe they like a routine, maybe they phone/message friends or relatives immediately after to discuss as a way of keeping in touch, maybe they like to tweet @ live shows like the last leg. That's just off the top of my head. Just because they're not things I do doesn't mean I'm not imaginative enough to picture a world where someone else would!3 -

Sometimes on catch-up, sometimes live.
If we're watching live, we often message each other with comments.
Elsien does not need to say anymore (unless she wants to).
I don't see why Ath_Wat sees a 'problem' and needs to be given something.

Repeats are most frustrating when they are so frequent. Quite often flick through the channels and find that the same channels are showing the same episode from 2 weeks ago.
We are lucky and have virgin media (free Netflix) & prime - still pay TV licence for all Live Sport.
But whilst my internet is happily sitting around 244mbs my parents are lucky if they can maintain 3mbs. They have sky so can record live TV but until recently (when their internet has gone up from about 2mbs) they didn't even have a smart TV as it was pointless. Internet reach was just not possible.
They are not old or adverse to technology (they are more than capable) just no infrastructure to support streaming services.0 -

I rarely need to watch iplayer or any catch up tv. I don't have the need.
I have access to Prime and Netflix but never feel inclined to watch them.
If it is convenient I will watch a programme live. If it is not, I will forego watching it.
There is very little that I consider so worth while to need to watch it.
I could say I am mystified that you can find nothing more worthwhile than watching programmes/films but then I do not consider my lifestyle choices need to be what others choose.
