No offense intended - just building on your suggestion.

Doesn't help if it's an account you switched in to as an existing customer tho.

My wife and I started switching accounts in 2017 and have now made over £3500 between us (including £1000 in Amazon vouchers via Santander refer-a-friend, same as cash to us). We've never changed our main bank. This generates LOTS of paperwork - you need to stay on top of it0

How did you get switching incentive with BooHoo. it is a switching incentive or vocuher. Link will be helpful ..oldagetraveller1 said:Without adding up how much, a few switches in the past year or so. R.B.S.,Lloyds (existing customer offer), Halifax, to name three of them. The latest, NatWest to Santander. Boohoo, should have waited for the £175 offer. However, crystal ball not to hand.I think that will be sufficient for the time being though. If you care to notice, "Boohoo" came after a full stop and not written "BooHoo". Boohoo as in crying! Lost out on an extra £15. Do keep up. Or is it an attempt to be clever?Maybe this will help? https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/boohoo

Only the last 6 years is held, so if a firm says "not eligible if you have EVER had an account" then you might not know (but equally they may well not have records either if you have not been a member for 6 years)WBCPB said:

There is a company called "BooHoo" listed in the LSE so I thought they were distributing voucheroldagetraveller1 said:adindas said:

Not disputing that it could he helpful to someone who doesn't realise they can look at their own bank statements but I am curious about the negativity.phillw said:
It is helpful, if you switch an old account into an existing count then the account opening date will have nothing to do with the switch date.grizzlegrizzle said:Is that merely meant to be a helpful suggestion WillPS or is the implicit negativity important to you?
After all my suggestion was helpful for a couple of scenarios with less obvious solutions - so someone feeling the need to point out that is would be 'less helpful' (it's actually not at all helpful) in the most basic and obvious situation where you are already in possession of the records (because the account is still open) seems like someone who is desperate to be negative in terms of both linguistics and logic.
But maybe that's the way things go on this forum? You seem to like the comment anyway.0 -
Not desperate to be negative, just pointing our the limitations of the approach you suggested. It's called a discussion forum for a reason.grizzlegrizzle said:

If you want to get in to semantics, 0 is always less than something, so if it's true that something is not at all helpful by comparison then it is inherently true that it is less useful.
I would suggest you're perhaps being a little negative, unduly.0 -
I’m in the same situations.Bridlington1 said:
You could open a Santander everyday account and switch that. Then you can keep the cashback on the bills and simultaneously hoover up any more switching incentives.JMZ555 said:I have only recently started switching. But it has been very easy with no issues yet.
Natwest--->HSBC---->Santander
Plus made a nice £300 from Chase Referrals in between.
I quite like the Cash back on bills that Santander do. I will maybe switch again if a good offer comes up.
So open it, move two DD’s over to it, then switch? How long do you think you need to have the account open for before switching?
I assume it would involve two hard searches in a short space of time?0 -
You can switch as soon as you've got the debit card for the new account. I've opened accounts, set up DDs and switched them within the space of a few weeks before with no issues. The bank you're switching to doesn't know how long you've had the old account for anyway.Calidad said:

As for the hard searches, when I opened a second account with Santander not so long back they never did a hard search. Even then as long as you've no big credit applications coming up within the next 12 months, e.g. mortgage, you don't have to worry about hard searches too much.1
