Cancelled Flight - Insurer or Travel Company?

Our recent Tui flight from Paphos to Gatwick was cancelled due to bad weather in the UK. We were given an hotel for the night and replacement flight was the following day (which was delayed by 2 hours). I've never claimed for a delayed/cancelled flight before. Should I do this directly with Tui or my travel insurer (or both)?
Many thanks

What are you wanting to claim for ?It appears that you were provided with a rescheduled flight and overnight accommodation by TUI
After the flight was cancelled were you provided with meals? If not and you have kept the receipts you can claim for these from TUI.
Compensation won’t be due as the cancellation for bad weather was out of the airlines control .2 -

Bad weather exempts the airline from any liability to pay compensation for cancelling flights, and delays need to be more than three hours to warrant any compensation, so on the face of it you aren't due anything from anybody, unless you perhaps incurred any out of pocket expenses that the airline didn't cover, such as food and drink at the airport?1
