Why does it say in the FAQ to forget about paying your fine within 14 days?

So I was reading up the FAQ on parking tickets and one of the questions says "It says my fine will go up after 14 days so why are you saying to wait?" and the answer says that "Forget the 14 days jitters, it's just a bribe to not appeal."

So say you got a fine of £100 and the letter says that if you pay within 14 days it'll be reduced to £60. But going by that statement above if you followed that and didn't pay or appeal in 14 days but did on the 15th day and you lost the appeal then you've now gotta pay £100.

So it is real and not a bribe they're just giving you a chance to have to shell out less money cos honestly unless you have money to burn no-one's got £100 to spare on the off chance your appeal is accepted.

So I don't know why they've said that.

Only a court can order payment not a parking firm

    This statement is not true,

"... if you followed that and didn't pay or appeal in 14 days but did on the 15th day and you lost the appeal then you've now gotta pay £100."

Nobody has got to pay anyone anything unless a judge says so.

In addition, it is not a fine.

Yea but I don't want to test out not paying, getting sent letters then told to go to court,  lose and be saddled with having to pay an arm and a leg in court fees.

Why are you planning on losing in court?

Most cases progressed here win in court - if it even gets that far.

We know nothing about your alleged parking event so it is difficult judge, but I would take odds of 10:1 on you winning any court case.

Yea I've got a letter from euro car parks 13 days after it happened saying I didn't pay the right amount for my stay but the machine told me to pay £1 so I did and I have it on my statement. 😒😒

Then the keeper of the vehicle should send the blue text template appeal easily found in the opening post of the NEWBIES thread.

    Send it unchanged.

What happened when you complained to the landowner and your MP? That is always Plan A.

If Plan A fails, you have the option of an appeal to the PPC, and if unsuccessful, an appeal to PoPLA. Neither will cost you anything, and there is nor requirement for you to pay even if you lose.

The letter says I stayed for 1 hour and 25 minutes and up to 2 hours is £2 and up to 1 hour is £1 but the machine said £1 or maybe it asked for what time I arrived when I came to pay but since it happened like nearly 2 weeks ago I can't remember.
