Currency Exchange Time?

Hi All,

We are going to turkey August 2023.
Is it okay to get some Turkish Lira now or is it best to wait until closer to the time?
Reson is I have the money now but am afraid I might spend it in the next 12 months lol.

if you have the money now - I'd put it in a fixed or notice saving account now so your less likely to spend it. that's just me though, everyone's different.

You should consider a "user friendly" debit card account (such as Starling) and deposit your money there - ready for use at ATMs on holiday.

Avoid a Metrobank debit card - fee free withdrawals don't apply in Turkey, which is not within SEPA.

Turkey is currently experiencing very high inflation. If you convert your holiday budget into lira now, you may find that by the time you get there your stash is worth just the price of an ice cream.
