I am just surprised in this day and age that people use sheets worth £40...Costing £40 doesn't mean thats what its worth. Its clearly not worth it to you. I wouldn't pay it.There's nothing wrong with Turin Shroud sheets although apparently they're off putting at the start of a relationship.

Hi, I've had some really good bedding from Dunelm. It isn't too expensive and if you can get it in one of the sales, so much the better.
I've also bought bedding in John Lewis' sales and that is really good. You can sometimes grab a genuine bargain. Also, M&S in their sale . . . can you see a pattern here . . . I do like the sales!
Sometimes George at Asda will have some good bedding.
We do prefer cotton - polycotton's acceptable as it doesn't need ironing or display many creases. I used to iron bedding years ago but then decided I'd rather do something I enjoyed instead. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. You couldn't pay me to sleep in linen sheets (or dress in anything linen)... so rough (and crumpled) that I would never consider them. The same with silk and satin. Cotton is the only way forward...#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

Linen is like any other fabric and there are a number of factor that can effect its touch. Our linen bedding is certainly not as silky smooth to the touch as the ridiculous thread count Sea Island Cotton bedding we have but its a vast distance from being describably as "rough" and particularly after a few washes.0 -
All my life I avoided synthetics like the plague. But then I bough a 100% polyester jersey fitted sheet from Lidl (Aldi?) - and now it's my favourite one. All other are 100% cotton jersey. We switched to jersey about 15 years ago and never looked back.Avoid polycotton!0

We now only really buy high thread count cotton - I find I sweat so much in polyester tbf. During the summer we have a linen sheet on top, in the winter a wool duvet (we had those 2 for 15 years).2006 LBM £28,000+ in debt.

Sanderson 600 thread count cotton for me. Bought my last set from a Bedecker outlet store for about £80 (fitted bottom sheet, top sheet and two pillowcases). Worth every penny

Like designer clothes, I don't begrudge anyone choosing to spend their hard earned on whatever they want.
Personally I'm very happy with Asda fitted sheets. I first bought them for DGD for her student house as they do a good range of colours although I use white myself.
They have had a Good Housekeeping recommendation in the past and I particularly like the fact that they are deep and stay in place. Sorry can't remember which exact range they are but not the cheapest and a fairly high thread count.1 -
Surely it depends on what you're looking for?
I'm usually happy with duvet sets bought in the sale for less than £15, however in this summer heat, I splurged on a £40 pure linen flat sheet to sleep under when my duvet was way too hot. I do love the fact there's no point in ironing it and have learnt to live with the wrinkles.2 -
I got mine for about £80 for a bedding set from Costco. 800 thread count cotton, pure luxury and worth every penny. Good quality bedding is so relaxing so it's a great investment.£2008 for 2008 member 695. November win, hair colour £5.59, only £2003.41 to go:rotfl: . Still in your face Sonniemell!1
