My husband's sister is in Cardiff. The children speak Welsh and my husband taught himself a few sentences /phrases, signposts you can work out or are in both languages.
What makes you want to move, why Wales, where at in Wales?
I'm guessing you speak Welsh, or at least know enough (just as you are wanting to both teach), so do you have family nearby etc?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Someone who speaks Welsh almost certainly wouldn't be asking where they should move to; they would know.

There's no need to speak any Welsh at all in Cardiff and other non Welsh speaking areas, even as a teacher. More teaching jobs would be open to you if you can, of course.

..again depends on nthe specific area of Wales you are looking at? In our area of Wales noboby speaks Welsh.
There are areas of Wales that are "heavily" populated, and there are those areas which are quite remote...as there are in the rest of (what is left) of the UK?

I think in over 30 years of living in and around Cardiff I have heard maybe 10 people talking Welsh. There is no need for any Welsh at all in this part of the country and the majority of us do not speak it despite the compulsory Welsh GCSE. Other areas are heavily Welsh speaking and can be quite sneering at English speakers. South East wales is really no different to living in Gloucester/Somerset in any way in terms of facilities available and “living experience”. House prices and cost of living are slightly lower (we looked into relocating Bristol way) but not by any really significant margin

I'm in Swansea (South West Wales). Welsh speakers are not uncommon here but it is rare to hear the language used for day to day life. Far more common a few miles further west.
If you are teaching, look very closely at what is needed. Welsh is no longer just a class on the timetable, it is embedded across the curriculum. What that means in practice will no doubt vary from school to school, but you will likely find encouragement to use some basic phrases in school. Beginners Welsh lessons are widely available and many employers offer free classes to their staff.
I'm was born and raised on the south coast of England, and moved here over 30 years ago. Living here is very different to the south east, in my opinion.

Having grown up in South Wales and knowing a couple of teachers who moved back to Wales, teaching jobs are far easier to come by when you already have an address in the area. Applications from further afield are viewed with caution. The thought is that you could easily be applying for posts all over the country and so may not take up your post if offered.

As my family and I are teachers looking to relocate from ENG to Wales

Hopefully not English teachers. Any reason to abbreviate England to "ENG"? Are your children also teachers or just your partner and you?

    6/10 Must try harder.
Yes, also words missing and double words. The word “leave” instead of “live”.

    See me.

Trying to find a primary post in Wales, is a hard ask. There is an over supply of primary teachers in our area, and i know of many with experience who have been unable to secure a permanent role and, have subsequently left the profession.

I'm in mid-Wales and moved here from England a decade ago; in ten years I have probably only ever heard Welsh being spoken on ten separate occasions, if that. The vast majority of people around here belong to Welsh families that go back generations; they don't speak a word of Welsh and many actually resent the time, money and effort imposed on others by a small minority of activists desperately trying to keep the Welsh language relevant in the 21st century.
As for moving to Wales generally, it's the best thing I ever did. I moved here as a single guy and was welcomed with open arms by literally everyone I met; the sense of community is incredible and there's always someone who knows someone who can help you out with whatever problem you might have.
There are drawbacks if you are rural like me such as we are both fighting fit but not-so-healthy friends and relatives often have to travel an hour or more over the border to England for medical care. So it's not suitable for everyone although older, new residents are still moving into the area and still think it's a price worth paying for being able to live in such a beautiful and sociable part of the UK.
Every generation blames the one before...

But once again, that's not remotely true of "mid Wales" generally.  I have no doubt it describes the part of mid Wales you are in, but other parts are very different. Whereabouts are you actually talking about?
