Can't you use, say, Google Chrome to check what your password for Facebook is? If you open Chrome on the phone and click settings then passwords there is an option to check all your passwords. Mind you you do need to know your Google account password to be able to see this! You could also go straight from the desktop of your computer and choose settings, autofill, passwords.
Some people (me) choose not to store userids/passwords in browsers. Personally I use a password manager (LastPass).
In which case you would just do exactly the same but in the password manager rather than the browser.
It was a very valid point, if the OP is using password management in the browser, then they should be able to go into the browser management and retrieve the password, negating the need to change it.
I would also recommend the OP does start to use a password manager independent of the browser. I wouldn't recommend LastPass as it has not been a leader in password management for some time and is now just a commercial entity (like Norton for Anti-Virus). Maybe something like Bitwarden may be suitable.
I wonder what the point of asking for photo ID is. It's not as if someone or some bot at Facebook can look at my photo to confirm that it's actually me.

I reset a Facebook password this week, was surprised that it required photo-id and a time-out while this was checked.

They can use one of the verification services that will check your drivers License or passport matched the one on the central database of you.
So yes, they can take photo ID and check it is you.
I suspect I will be out of luck if I needed to do this. My driving license is my original green one from when I first passed my test which of course doesn't have a photo on it, and my passport expired in 2009. Interesting to know it's possible, though.
