I've got an old LG soundbar with woofer (maybe 7 years old), that I mainly just use for movie nights on the projector these days. However, the wireless sub woofer has never had any issues connecting. The sound bar itself has had issues, such as turning itself off after a couple of hours. Since I've been using on ad-hoc basis rather than all the time, it seems ok.  When it was connected to the TV, the TV and soundbar were integrated and the TV remote controlled the volume. Can't see them moving backwards from that. Mine was connected by digital optical cable (?).
