Universal Credit and student loan eligibility

Options
Does Universal Credit count as 'income' when my son applies for a maintenance grant / student loan?

I can't find anything useful online and it's really confusing me. At the moment, it seems like he is only eligible for a smaller grant because we have put down everything I get in terms of UC, plus my other son's condition means we get DLA/PIP payments. I've included all of that as 'income' and my son won't have enough to live on in terms of the grants and loans.

Further readings shows that I can deduct a grand for each child (apart from the son going to university) and perhaps DLA/PIP doesn't count as income either?

Any advice would be much appreciated because I simply can't find anything to help parents on UC understand what counts as 'income'.

Thank you in advance.
