When you cancel virgin, make sure your marketing preferences in your account are set to let them contact you. You should get a call back with a decent offer to stay, and then if you want to up the tv to maxit package you may get offered that at similar Price to what you pay now.
  • If you’re both working full time, I’m surprised you have any time for watching TV. Especially TV you pay for.

We went back to Sky (Sky Q) after several years of just Freesat. I'm likening the ability to download a whole series to watch at our leisure.
I do that from Freesat.  Just set the series to record.
True but I'm talking about series that might not be currently being broadcast. For example I started watching Stargate:SG1 from about series 5. Now approaching the end of series 10. Sky are currently broadcasting series 1.
I've just completed the full 10 seasons of Stargate SG1 on Netflix using a VPN. No TV licence or Sky/Virgin subscription just a £6.99 Netflix account.
Someone please tell me what money is

    Hi all

So our virgin deal ends in September and we were looking at changing providers for broadband and TV. Not bothered about the phone line. So we pay 37 a month for 100mb and the mixit package with virgin.

Now I looked that sky and they have alot more channels for 39 a months but the problem is I don't know if they will be able to fit it. We also work full time Monday to Friday the only times they do fitting appointments and it looks like you need two appointments for broadband fitting and then it's the TV fitting the next day.

I had a look at bt TV but there's alot less channels on there. Although now adays we only really watch like channels you can get on Freeview and nextflix, Disney plus and prime.

So I don't even know it's worth getting a TV deal.

    Thank you
Since you're paying for subscriptions to those streamed services - do you need a paid TV provider?
You can have separate BB and TV providers - I use my Sky subscription over Virgin BB. (The only hassle is if you need to connect your Sky box to the router you have to enter the password manually.)
For Sky TV they do have to fit a dish and go through setup with you, so if their installers can't meet your schedule then it can't be installed.
As mentioned, Sky (and most other providers) BB runs over the plain old phone system (POTS) and home setup can be done. If you want to be sure to cover teething problems you can choose to overlap your services, ie. get Sky BB up and running and then cancel Virgin.

just a £6.99 Netflix account.?   Why do you pay that when you could watch it for free?

    What a bizarre comment.

We've found it's easy to get bigger packages but very difficult to do without them even if you only occasionally watch something.
There are others out there that may offer better deals initially but it's not what you are used to.

Really, I thought it was quite a sensible comment.

I think your definition of full time work doesn't match everybody else's.
Even at 37hrs a week working that's still (say) five hours each night and the weekends to watch stuff.
By your logic they'd have to be working 14hr days and then go home and go straight to bed and do that seven days a week.
