The logic is that you send a prove-it letter and see what comes back

If you are happy that they have proved the debt but it is statute barred then by all means send the statute barred letter.

If they cannot evidence that this is your debt but quote ancient dates like the last payment being pre-2016, then there is a 'hybrid letter' in the suite of statute barred letters

There are other possible responses that they may come up with and that is why there are several letters in the suite of letters  here

"If you are happy that they have proved the debt but it is statute barred then by all means send the statute barred letter."

if they prove debt is mine then how do I know it is statute barred?

one final question... hypothetically  speaking. lets  assume I ignore these recent letter and dont send prove it letter .. what is the worst case scenario again? they turn up at my door and I ask them to go away?

Because information you get on the debt should include when it defaulted, and when the last payment or written acknowledgement was, so from that you can deduce if it is statute barred or not.

Worse case is resolvecall knock on your door and you tell them to foxtrot Oscar.

Arrow may just call it quits after that, or they may try for a CCJ by default, both options are open, if you continue to ignore them, and it could drag on for a while, so best advice is to take charge of the situation, ask for evidence, then based on what they send you, tell them its statute barred, and that should be the end of the matter.

Just send a prove-it letter and see what comes back

Don't over-think it. Let us know what they say

    3. Ignore.
AND ask Resolve-call to politely go away if they were to  knock on door. By the way, in this situation, when I open door,  do I need to confirm my name if they ask me? what is a nice polite but firm way to handle this so they go away and not return?
If someone knocks at my door and asks my name I respond by asking them theirs and why do they want my name.  If they then said Resolveit (or Bob the Builder, doesn't matter) and say they are looking for Brie I would then say if you think you know someone's name and address then I suggest you send them a letter and see if they respond.  And then point to the sign saying "no cold caller's".  And close the door.  Possibly hard if their nose is in the way.

Oh and whatever you do, don't let them in the house.  Not even if they say they need the loo desperately or are feeling faint and need a glass of water.  You can offer to go get some water or call for an ambulance but close and lock the door before you turn your back on them.

There are numerous threads on here about resolvecall, but just to confirm, they are a simple debt collection company, they are not bailiffs, they have no more rights than you or I do, and you are under no obligation to deal with them whatsoever.

  • I think I made a small error in my OP,  the letter in March was sent to me by NCO Europe on behalf of "Arrow Global". And then later from Arrow Global saying it is handing over my account to Resolvecall to chase..

Not sure if it changes my approach. I should be still writing to Arrow and /resolvecall isnt it ? And not NCO Europe,

Resolvecall sent me an automated text message saying they tried to visit my home. no idea how they got hold if my mobile number. Anyway I have blocked their number..

You could send a SAR to Resolvecall to find out - how old is your mobile number - could they have got it from Linkedin or credit report or anything like that?
