Problems with Leisure Guard Insurance

For a number of years I have taken out travel insurance and vehicle hire excess insurance with Leisure Guard, one of the sites listed in the MSE Car Hire post. Fortunately I have never had to claim, until now. In my recent holiday I had a puncture which led to an excess charge of GBP150. Checking my policy documentation I found three ways of claiming:
1. Via the website www.excessclaim.co.uk: on my preferred browser (Firefox) this returns a 404 (No Such Page) error, although I have since found the page does display on some browsers.
2. Via the e-mail address carhireclaims@axa-assistance.co.uk - I sent an e-mail to this address 36 hours ago and have received neither response nor even acknowledgement.
3. Via a phone number (0333 300 2160): After going through various levels of menu this connected me to the AXA Travel Insurance (sic) Claims Team who could find no record of the policy number.
The AXA guy was very helpful and has promised to look into it and call me back, but I'm wondering if anybody else has had similar problems, and wanted to warn people to be careful of dealing with Leisure Guard,

The website works but you have to prefix it with https:// otherwise it gets a 404 error.... should have a redirect from the non-secure but doesn't.0
