(how strange - my post has vanished)
Anyway....These were the results of the pound shop silicon moulds.....they're great!!! DD's have decorated them for xmas pressies for teachers - they've been wrapped in cling-film and will sit in the fridge till nearer the time....
The little mini muffin ones are a great size to make into christmas tree decorations....so we shall be making more of them too."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Pooky: They're fab! I wish my poundland hadn't sold out of the butterfly one now!
Oh well, never mind I guess I could just draw one on top of a slab with melted chocolate or icingJust because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.:p

I've been giving this a go as I'm stuck for ideas for Christmas this year so though I'd give everyone gift tokens and something home made.
I've melted chocolate and used some seasonal ice cube molds to make little snowmen, chrimbo trees, stars etc. They look really good. I've got some Ikea shaped ice cube trays that are a little deeper and I've tried pushing nuts and cranberries into the chocolate and that works really welle.
I've been putting it in my vestibule to set as it like a blooming fridge out there (especially this weekend with 5 inches of snow and almost freezing temps!) but, when I bring it back into the kitchen/normal room temperature and remove from molds, a while later the chocolate is softer again and dull. I had a look on the internet and found that you should temper your chocolate to make it firmer so followed some instructions but still it's a bit more like a firm fudge texture than chocolate. There's no 'snap' that you get when you break or bite chocolate. Of course this involved lots of taste testing which is no bad thing :rotfl: Is anyone else finding this? I'm I just being too picky/too much of a perfectionist (probably!!)
I'm going to try peppermint creams and maybe toffee and fudge too if I can't get the chocolate to work out.0 -

I bunged my moulds in the fridge for about an hour and a half to set before taking them out - back in the fridge for another half hour before wrapping in clingfilm.....they've now set back to snapping consistancy (after 2 days) so don't loose hope just stick them back in the fridge."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. This is a fantastic idea and I think my children might make some for their aunts/uncles etc.
Unfortunately, DD1 has a nut allergy so there is no such thing as cheap chocolate for her but I've managed to get some nut-free plain choc - if I can get another bar, I might make her an 'expensive' one as a treat.
