Can anyone recommend some good travel insurance companies? I’m off to Florida in just over 2 weeks, best quote I’ve had so far is £415 with 2 conditions declared! Going for 19 days.
I’m young and I’ve never had any problems yet in life so it’s a shame to be paying this much, never payed more than £30 before!
Or does anyone know any companies you can pay monthly with?
many thanks!

Who have you had quotes from to avoid people suggesting these companies?0

Presumably the medical condition is new. Any chance you can get it excluded from the cover?
I mean if you had, say, IBS and had that excluded you wouldn't be covered if you had an extreme episode of something related to your digestive system. But you would be covered if you broke your leg. Or the flights were cancelled.
A quick google shows this and lists some alternatives to look at. (not a customer and no experience of this company)

If you've never paid more than £30 before I'm guessing you either haven't declared the conditions before, or haven't travelled to the USA before. Medical costs in the USA are astronomical so cover is going to be expensive.

Alternative thought.....get a packaged bank account that includes travel insurance. You would still have to declare the health issues but they would exclude those and the policy would be paid each month. Last I saw Barclays had one that insurance RAC etc were included for a fee of about £15 a month. Not really cheap but not £400+. Don't know if you would be able to claim within a couple of weeks of getting the account (assuming you needed to in Florida, hopefully you wont). But might be something to think about for the future.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Have you checked what the cost would be without the medical conditions to see what basic cost would be.
But, as said, medical expenses in US are very expensive as would be medical repatriation.
if the conditions were excluded anything that could be related to them would also be excluded, whether caused by them or not.0 -

The colitis needs to be covered , don’t book insurance where it is excluded. It seems anything can be connected to colitis, fall and break something - that’s colitis as you were in a weakened state due to a flare up etc. We have family history of all manner of colitis, crohns , coeliac IBS and always ensure we are fully covered whichever of us is travelling.

I would want medical conditions covered, not excluded, particularly if going to the USA. I appreciate that the OP has not experienced problems so far, but that doesn't mean they won't at some time in the future. Surely colitis wouldn't have been diagnosed if the OP hadn't experienced problems.

We recently went on holiday whilst my husband had just been diagnosed with a new condition. We used Avanti, but I ended up excluding all his conditions in order to get the insurance (it wasn't likely to cause issues, and no treatment was planned). Worth giving them a call/online quote: https://www.avantitravelinsurance.co.uk/0
