New car order, cancellation.

Since the six monthly plate switch the Sept mid year switch makes next to no difference to the future resale value. So, cancelling for the sake of the latest plate is a vanity keeping up with the Jones' decision and nothing else.
Maybe worth asking for some compensation such as a free service or car mats etc for the delay.0 -
Because, come resale time in a few years, an older plate vehicle will be worth less than a newer plate, even though the age is the same?photome said:I , like others don’t really get why you would be happy getting a 22 plate in July but not a few weeks later.
has it really been registered though? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Not on the Sept plate change as they are the same MY22 models, it really makes no significant difference. Hence suggesting to try to get some other concession such as a free first service which will cover that difference.macman said:

Will it though ? If it’s a year 22 car I am not sure the plate makes any difference but I am not a dealermacman said:

I'm sure a good spec 22 car without any of the toys being removed due to shortages and demand will outweigh any change from 22 to 72 registration.photome said:

..I don't think most people even note the reg. plates anymore...just go by the year of registration??

Did it get damaged during transportation? If you check the MOT does it come up as registered?0

FWIW I prefer the age identifiers that actually have the year of the car rather than the age identifiers that cross the year and are confusing.
Having said that, this thread has just alerted me to the fact that the new plate will be my year of birth, so maybe I should get one of those. Wonder what combination to add to it to make it "personal" for not much outlay?0 -
Which would apply equally if he had got the car in July as he expected. the car will be worth the same for resale as if he had got it in July. He is not losing any potential value. it is the same car.macman said:
