Jet2 switching flights to different carrier

We have flights booked with Jet2 to Spain in October and have recently been informed that the flight will now be operated by SmartLynx. As far as I can tell, all Jet2 flights are non-refundable and we would have no right to cancel and receive a refund (we could of course just cancel and lose our money). Does anyone know if this is correct? If an airline switches a flight to be operated by a different carrier do any consumer rights kick in over and above the t's and c's of the original booking?

why does it make any difference to you? The aircraft will most likely be the same type as the original jet2 aircraft and even if it isn’t it will still get you there and back

i have a flight with jet 2 in a few weeks time where the aircraft will be operated by Titan rather than jet 2 but I don’t feel the need to cancel

I am sure the replacement aircraft will have 2 wings and 2 engines so no different to most other carriers ,go and enjoy your holiday

Your contract with the carrier is to get you to where you are going, and back again.  There is nothing to say it will be a specific make and model of aircraft, or who the actual carrier will be.  We have been told we are flying with Smartlynx and my only concern is that the legroom may be worse than on Jet2.  We flew back from holiday pre-Covid with Smartlynx and the aircraft still had reclining seats.  Needless to say, the person in front of me tried reclining theirs and nearly crushed my knees.  They did quickly put it back to the normal position when I swore!  I didn't swear directly at or to them, it was an immediate reaction to what they did.

Still a "Jet2" flight, in as much it has a Jet2 flight number, you check in with Jet2 etc. Aircraft will be SmartLynx with some Jet2 stickers on, pilots employed by Smartlynx. Cabin crew will be Jet2's own, with maybe one or two from Smartlynx as well.

Back to your question you have no rights because the operating carrier had changed,  all airlines have such clauses in their T&C's, specifically from Jet2:

    27. Aircraft

When you book flights with us, the carrier who will be operating your aircraft will in normal circumstances be Jet2.com Limited. Our airline identification code is LS and consequently our flight numbers are shown prefixed by LS. However, in common with most airlines, there may sometimes be occasions where it is necessary for us to temporarily supplement our fleet with aircraft operated for our benefit by another carefully chosen airline.

In such circumstances, we shall try to ensure that you receive the same level of in-flight service and baggage allowance advertised for your flight but we cannot guarantee that this will always be possible.

If the carrier is not Jet2.com, we shall advise you of the name of carrier when you check in for the flight and when you board the flight.

The same thing happens with a lot of airlines particularly Alliance members.  So I might book with Air Canada but the flight also has a BA number.  Whether the crew are BA or AC is really of no import as long as I can get my duty free purchases onboard.

How does that work ?  Air Canada are with Star Alliance and British Airways are with OneWorld.  I wasn't aware that Air Canade and BA did any codeshares
