Morning
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot, air is cool but will soon heat up.. Wash load ready to peg out.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was ham, hot quiche, pork pie, salad, hot new potatoes. Tonight something quick and easy not sure what yet.
The normal "to do" list - will work my way through steadily no rush in the heat.
Keep safe and well x

Back again, it looks like it's going to be another hot day. I know some areas are short of water, but what a difference this hot weather has made! I'm fortunate that I don't have to work, and whilst I don't sunbathe I appreciate the warmth. It's cooler here than in the south, but hot enough.Camelot your Dgd sounds to be a little character. It's great to see them enjoying themselves.TA, I can't believe your eldest Dgd is 18, congratulations to her. As Gers as said, the time is simply flying away.Congrats (belated) to the Snoozers, happy wedding anniversary. We don't exchange gifts either on ours, we're an unromantic old pair.Yesterday morning we cleaned the insides of the windows at the front of the house, as it faces north and is nice and cool in this hot weather. I did the back windows late yesterday afternoon. Didn't do much else, I went out for milk and fruit juice, Dh went over to the caravan to check the tyre pressures. We have booked a few days away in September. Before that though, we'll be going South to celebrate my great great nephew's first birthday, we haven't seen them for a couple of years so it'll be really nice.No particular plans for today, we'll see what presents itself.Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.11

Good morning folks, thanks for starting us off Scarlet. Your days on the Northumberland coast sound so blooming lovely. I have such happy memories of that stretch of the coastline, especially Bamburgh.Yesterday wasn't a scorcher here though better than pleasant. There was hardly any breeze and the clouds cleared away by the afternoon. In complete contrast, this morning there's a deep blanket of fog, a complete whiteout, I can't see past the edge of my track. I'm hoping that it'll burn off gradually, the forecasted high temperatures is only 20°, as long as there's no rain I'll be happy. This morning I've already rescued three butterflies which found their way upstairs. Two from my bedroom and one from my bathroom. They each fluttered away when released. I seem to spend a lot of time either disposing of or rescuing various forms of flying things. On the upside the swallows have been such a delight as they swoop round the sky catching food on the wing, yesterday they were particularly active.TA - how was the family gathering for you? Did the birthday girl have a good time?
Today I have no plans yet apart from searching for the adapter plug I bought for my holiday, goodness knows where it is, I refuse to buy another one so I'd better get busy. My SIL will be phoning from Oz later this morning.I hope that everyone is doing well, take care if you've got the high temperatures. Happy Friday to all.9 -
Morning All
Another beautiful morning, I'll go for a walk soon before it gets too hot. Not enough for a wash load so it can wait until tomorrow.
I unexpectedly had the little one yesterday, DD has a really heavy cold so she had a day in bed. We went swimming and played inside, it was too hot to have her outside. Also paid a visit to the allotment where she ate just about all the peas straight from the pods.
I have someone coming today to quote for spraying insulation under the floor from the cellar, I can't get enough free stuff to do all of it and I think it will make a big difference to the heat in the winter, hoping it's not too much!
Hope you all had a good celebration last night TA, Happy 18th Birthday to your DGD.
Hope you're OK Nelski.
Right, off to the shower, last day of the holidays today for me, back to work on Monday!
Take care XX9 -
Morning all, thanks for the thread Scarlet.
Looks like another scorcher in store for us here. I have my shorts on in readiness!
I have been nominated for a two week project at work - will find out today if I've been chosen to support but it's high profile and will be good for my CV if it comes off!
We seeing Nope at the cinema later which is billed as 'horror' - not my usual film genre! Dinner will be SW pork and apple burgers - yum.
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning folks - second attempt at posting! Laptop doing it's own thing this morning, I think the heat may have got to it!
Another scorcher forecast. I can cope with the hot days but not the hot nights. Despite having the fan going beside the bed all night I had a very tossy turny night. We had the inevitable news warning this morning - Yorkshire Water will operate a hosepipe ban in 2 weeks time. As long as we are not back to the standpipes of the 70s. I'm too old for lugging water containers around these days!
DGD enjoyed her "party" last night at the restaurant and all but 2 people made it. Her other grandma and a friend both tested positive for Covid. It was horrendously hot in the restaurant and the waiters did a sterling job getting the right courses to the right people. (They needed our choices last week) It's hard to believe the young woman who now towers above me is the little girl who drove me to distraction when she was little. The days of getting her to nursery in one piece will haunt me forever! It just seems like yesterday.
There will be no Friday Tidy happening today. Far too hot, that's on hold until the cooler weather comes. Though I might trundle the vac and flick the duster around downstairs to show willing! And after 3 consecutive days of eating out some sensible and healthy eating is on the agenda now, I have earmarked some smoked haddock, salad and Jersey pearl potatoes (without butter!!) for my tea but still to christen my lunch. I need to compile a shopping order too as the fridge is looking a bit bare. I am hoping I can get a slot for Monday as by then it will be empty!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and fed up. Take care in this heat and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -

Morning everyone
Looks like being another beautiful day today. Yesterday afternoon DD and little one got home from hospital so I went down to their house for a couple of hours. I got so many hugs from little one - it was lovely - she kept saying I love you granny my darling! We played inside as it was too hot for her outside and DD got their hospital things put away.
I came home about 6 - they were both going for a very early night - and sat outside reading for a lovely couple of hours.
The consultant is trying little one not having her milk feed overnight, and instead giving her extra doses of cornflour and water. They don't think it's diabetes but she can't regulate her blood sugars. Also she no longer needs thickener in her drinks so she can now drink anything - she is delighted and keeps saying 'I think I'll have a drink cos me can you know.' It's so lovely for her.
Yesterday morning she had woke up about 5.30 and left DD in their room sleeping - she said ' I had a little wander and found a nurse!' DD said she'd asked the nurse to take her into the play room cos mummy was busy sleeping!
She just takes it all in her stride but was telling me there were lots of very sore needles in this time - hopefully she won't be back for a while.
So this morning I need to go down to mam and dads to do his banking then I have a pile of ironing to do and I might make a big pan of bolognese sauce. Little one is here for tea and sleepover tonight and she loves it. Other than that a quiet afternoon - I'm still having days when I'm really tired and still lots of weird aches and pains.
It seems to have taken me so long to write this that I've forgotten what you all said - hope everyone has a good day x

Morning all, another hot day in store but not like down South, it's 22 deg atm, so pooch reluctantly walked at 8, only across the road and was pulling to get back home. She seems to have got very sensitive to noise in her old age.Tea was chicken salad last night, I had a trip to Al di yesterday when DH was at physio. Afterwards went to our football stadium shop with DS2 & DGC where new tops were bought, but they didn't have DGS size so he just got a Tshirt and a promise to go back when in stock about 2 weeks. We had a walk round the ground to look at the Nat Lofthouse statue ( played for our town and England back in the 50's), lots of sprucing up done
Back home for cool drinks!
Surprise yesterday, the young 'uns next door but 1 have put their house on the market. Not seen them so don't know why but there is a big extension being built at their back which will probably overlook their back garden!Dp1 your DGD sounds a little marvel & full of fun.Happy 18th to your DGD TA, glad she had a good night.I gave myself a pedicure so my toes are sandal ready for the wedding tomorrowI'll leave the manicure until tonight. It's quite an early ceremony and nearly an hours drive away near Clitheroe so there won't be too much spare time in the morning.
Probably more salad tonight, but right now another cuppa beckons - have the best day you can:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)8 -
