It read as though it was a question, not a 'warning'.
I am presuming, as you say you would have taken on the responsibility yourself, you have not used a mortgage and purchased with cash, and you state you have funds to fix these issues. That's a great position to be in and therefore I understand you are looking at 'warning' people maybe that a £700 survey will not run a shower for 15 minutes and the surveyor will not move furniture, is that right? If so, I set think the OP has been worded really badly. However I do think people wouldn't expect this.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....1 -

i.e spot a fan and check the shower works for more than 30 seconds.
The wall had a unit in front of it, but was easily moved. I just get the feeling it was done on a devil may care basis and I see it as a bit of a waste of money getting the higher price survey considering they did not even spot the structure issue which may or may not be bad.I'm not sure what that one covers, bit it might be worth checking what it's supposed to covers and comparing what you received. I would doubt it covers whether a shower works etc, but I could be wrong.

@[Deleted User] with respect I think you expect too much. What I want from a survey is the answer to the important question - is it going to fall down? Everything else doesn't really matter.

I have had a surveyor check a shower worked.
Neither has he turned on taps to make sure water comes through them. switch on the lights to make sure they work or check the electric and/or gas was working.0 -
You might find a good clean of the extractor would get it working again. I must admit, if was viewing a house, I'd just turn the shower on to check it was working and heating up. Then I'd turn it off again, similar to what you do with taps. I'd expect no different from a surveyor.

As I stated several times in this thread, they made a point in the report they provided to me, that they had tested the shower to match "everyday" use.
