Friends of ours have recently returned to UK after living abroad for 11 years, they want to buy a Range Rover Evoque automatic (petrol) but have been refused insurance by every company they've tried on the grounds that they get stolen all the time and are whisked out of the country within 24 hours.
Any words of wisdom?

Sounds like a good reason not to buy one.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.

Only the electrics and the suspension that fail a lot I believe.

Buy something else, seriously. They have one of the worst owner ratings for reliability, I had a mate who had one. It spent more time in the garage than on the road.

Land Rover Discovery Sport.  Effectively the same vehicle in a less fashionable bodyshell.  Insurers may think differently.  If they are thinking of a post-2019 car then also Jaguar E-Pace = Evoque 2 = Disco Sport 2
I need to think of something new here...

In certain parts of London they are stolen it seems almost every night. Keyless entry theft, every time.
High end Mercs, Audi's and BMW's too, but RR's seem the most common ones.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Another 'buy something else' response (sorry) - for whatever reason and despite all their issues they still come high up on the fashionistas list and even higher on the thieving scumbags lists - plenty of other things that do it all (much) better albeit without the badge
