But equally likely to be a scaled up shower valve. Remove, and clean or replace.
If it's Scottish Water area very unlikely. There are very, very few hard water areas in Scotland.
More likely as plumb1_2 suggests debris clogging filters - but the solution for both is the same - strip, clean/replace.
I am always a bit bemused when I see Limescale remover spray on shop shelves up here but people must buy it or it would not be on shelf.

...and dishwasher salt...or tablets designed around the common denominator of a worst-case scenario of hard water...and don't start me on people buying Highland Spring, in the Highlands!

    Left and right.
If it's a normal shower they are hot and cold water valves.
If it's a thermostatic shower one is a flow control valve and another is a temperature control (thermostatic) valve.
I have a feeling that you need a plumber or a handyman.
I guess I do need a plumber as I dont understand what you wrote ;) Which photo are you referring to? what left and right do I need to deal with? Its a shower connected to boiler . you can see grey dots where electric shower used to be

I suggest you get someone in to do this, as you seem to be out of your depth with it.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

First you have to remove the handles. This depends on the design. Look for some grab screws or screw caps on yours.

1- turn off water supplies to the shower valve
2- remove shower with spanner ( turn anti clockwise)and check the filters
3- if filters have debris in them, remove and clean, replace and refit shower valve and turn supplies back on and test
4– If filters clean, refit valve and then consider removing/ replacing the cartridge .
5- sometimes it’s quicker and cheaper to replace the valve, if it’s a unbranded shower valve and you don’t know the make/model.
