Using Virgin airmails for car hire?

I can see on their site it says you can earn and spend air miles with their car hire partners but I can't for the life of me figure out how. Does anyone know?
Their site is as clear as mud. I guess I could call them but I don't need it for a while so I thought I'd ask on here in case anyone else has done it and I'm just being blind.

I have in the past earnt points from car rental (Alamo) but I don't recall a time to spend points against a car rental reservation.1

I think you can only earn. Maybe you used to be able to spend in the past and a website link has not been updated though.2
