My recent tweaks have been:
Banning myself from buying takeaway coffee (this saves me about £20pm)
Taking lunch into work instead of buying it (this saves me about £30pm)
Changing my phone contract (saving £7pm)
Cancelling my Boomerang app on Gmail (saving £4pm)
Changing my Virgin Media contract (a modest saving of £2pm)
Selling unwanted clothes and furniture on eBay and Gumtree (profit this month so far £90)
I've also signed up for Airtime Rewards and have made £3.88 so far. When it reaches £10 I can use it towards my phone bill, which is only £12pm now.3 -
Welcome to the thread @specialhat, it sounds as though you are on a moneysaving roll there!Just getting off to sleep last night and the electric fan suddenly went off. Investigated, and there is something wrong with most of the power points in the house, as in they don't work. Their switch on the consumer unit trips the whole system out if it is switched on, even with no appliances plugged in to any of the sockets. Managed to rig up extension leads to keep the freezers going. The sockets in the kitchen, the loft conversion and the workshop and garage seem ok, so I guess they are on different circuits (the freezers are in the conservatory which along with the living and dining rooms, hall, landings and bedrooms, have no power). Lighting everywhere is unaffected. Managed to get hold of an electrician this morning, who is coming round first thing on Monday. Thank goodness not all the rooms are affected, or we would have lost 2 freezers full of food
Anyway, no doubt an expensive repair needed.3
