Morning folks
Looks like the thread has been nice and busy. I've been busy this week. A few money outlays here but worthwhile things. Our doorstep is rotting away which is causing rain to get in and draughts. Doesn't seem to be any interest from the LL so I bought some super hardcore Ronseal stuff that you mix and it cures in 30 mins. You can fill any hole with it - no building it up in layers. Long story short, I used some wet rot wood hardener that I purloined from the shed after f-i-l passed away to hardened the rotted bits. Then went through 1.5 tubs of filler (it's not cheap but it's good). Then I sweetly asked my neighbour, who has recently primered their front door, if they might have some primer for me (they did). Job's a good'un. I just need to buy a tin of black gloss now to finish off.
I've been looking at the news re the energy bills and making myself sad. We're very fortunate in that we will be able to afford the rises but the thought that I could go from paying £78 per month to £300 per month within 6 months sticks in my throat. It's already jumped to £107 after my fix ended. I just wonder at what point I go from "not wasting electricity" to "not using electricity".
It should have been a gym day today, but I went to bed with a headache and woke up with it. It started when we dug the potatoes last night and I thought it might be a tension headache as my shoulder has been sore and tight. Some ibuprofen has fixed it but I don't feel 100%. Will go to gym on Fri as usual and Sat maybe (hopefully!).
So today's MSEthings:
B/L/D from stores. No idea what though.
Try to keep elec use to minimum
Dark wash on ECO 20 deg mode. I'm trialing this as it doesn't seem to get the clothes as clean in combination with my ecoegg. I have sprayed the armpits of OH's stuff with vinegar spray and let them sit to try and remove sweat smell (although this an issue at any wash temperature). I think the deodorants/antiperspirants lock the smell in or something as I use an eco deodorant from Lush and my clothes don't have the same problem. Any ideas folks?
Charged the strimmer battery and will nip to the allotment later to cut the grass
WFH so no petrol spend there
Non-MSE things:
WFH so using more power. Must do my tx return and remember to try and claim back the WFH money.
Buy black gloss paint
Other things:
Tidy round house
Bit of dusting.
Have a good one all

Hello all
Two items sold on FB marketplace yesterday, so I have £70 extra and some space in the garage
Today:Up at 5, annoyingly, as I couldn't sleep. Made the most of the cool conditions and walked the dog, then watered the garden. No hose pipe ban here as yet. Only a matter of time though!Used an elderly banana on toast for breakfastRescued a few fallen apples which OH has prepped for a crumbleShopping - mostly in Lidl, plus the bits that they didn't have in Mr S. There was only one £1.50 Lidl veg box in store today, and I passed, as it mostly contained apples, which we have a tree full of currently.Leftover risotto for lunchI still need to plant out some lettuces in troughs, update my spending diary after shopping and paying the milk bill, do a bit of housework, and make sweet and sour pork for dinner (and tomorrow's dinner, as I am back to work tomorrow).3 -
Morning all!
Working at home again today - although wishing I was down the beach!
Today I have/will:- Check banks
- Squeeze out end of moisturiser - I really thought this was done two days ago but got more out!
- Turn bathroom sink mixer tap to coldest position - so if it's not warming up every time its turned on if not necessary!
- Put grass cuttings in green bin and put out for collection (as I've paid for it!) - plus pulled out a few of the many weeds in the front garden to fill it up a bit more so I feel more like I'm getting my money's worth!

- Send MIL bank details so she can pay me for some shopping
- Make a CC payment now statement has come in
- Update spreadsheet
- Buy something using gift card as I'd forgotten I had it and they're deducting a fee off every month! Not something I "need" but better I spend it than it goes to waste! However also went via TCB so made 51p through doing that!
- Leave work phone unplugged unless I need to use it
- Put tortoises in the garden as it's nice today - saves having their lamp on during the day
- Text friend re plans for a couple of weeks - save £10 by cancelling/dipping out for part
- Turn off laptop properly at the end of the day
- Lunch and dinner from stores
- Park for free at netball

Afternoon folks
Luckily I'm not too far south so we've got nice hot sunny weather, as opposed to horribly hot sunny weather! The headache from yesterday morning didn't resurface and I felt normal round mid-morning so no idea what that was about? The plan for today is to go foraging after work
Today's MSE things:
B/L from stores
WFH so no petrol spend
OH doing a few private teaching lessons
Off to do some foraging this evening
Update budget spreadsheet
Spendy things:
Petrol spend to get to foraging area and one of OH's lessons
Will have some cheap tea out
Other things:
Bring washing in off line
Have a play with different needles for a sock I'm starting for OH. Wool thicker than expected.
Have a good one all

Afternoon all
Even hotter today. No respite forecast until Monday
Anyway, it is what it is. Worked again today, and despite the heat, the shop was really busy. Quite stressful trying to keep purchase records and the till straight, with just one other person who doesn't do a lot and never stops talking to 'help'
Still, no more work till next week.Watered the garden first thingLast of last week's bananas on toast for breakfastTook lunch and water to workOH has made coleslaw and potato salad, and I just need to pick some lettuce to go with dinner.2
