Additional costs following cancelled flight?

Recently had a flight from Madeira cancelled, flying with Easy Jet but package holiday with Tui. Since returning to the UK I submitted a claim to Easy Jet for the expenses available on their claim form (All expenses submitted on the claim form have been paid to date) but I have two outstanding costs that I was unable to add to the form.
The first is a taxi fare where the driver refused to provide a receipt. This journey was from the hotel that Easy Jet placed me in on the first night after my flight was cancelled to a new hotel that I had to book for the remaining four nights before my rearranged return flight. The altercation with the taxi driver to gain a receipt almost reached a physical situation before the driver drove off. Unfortunately I was unable to get any of his details except that it was the main taxi provider within Funchal.
The second expense is additional kennelling costs within the UK for my dog. Easy Jet have refused both payments saying I do not meet the criteria for repayment ie i) No Receipt and ii) not their responsibility.
Do I continue to challenge Easy Jet over this or am I chasing a dead end?

I think the taxi charge is a dead end, the kennel charge may be claimable against your travel insurance but airlines do not normally cover additional expenses incurred once you leave the arrival airport1
