Google Pay - any card that plays nicely with this?

I have my capital one card linked to it, has worked fine on the play store, but a couple of weeks ago I used google pay to pay for mcd drive thru app order.  Guy at the till said couldnt serve due to been stuck in pending, then whilst there he said it timed out, so I then paid with the same card at the window and it worked.

After I got home I checked the google pay statement (hard to find) and it showed mcdonalds themselves cancelled the transaction, a bit odd.  I am inclined to think they were at fault as google pay has worked for me on the store everytime and for deliveroo orders.
