Hi
Just received a letter from aglian water stating I'm using alot more water.... you'll now pay £98 , you previously paid £19.
Is there anything I can do about this?
We haven't used anymore in my opinion. We are a family of 5 living in a rented house and are starting to struggle financially.

Do you have a meter ? If so can you read it and compare with what's on the billNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

£19 a month for water is very low. We are a family of 3 adults and think we are low users paying £30 a month. On average we use around 7.5 cubic meters of water per month for the last 8 to 10 years.
I would suspect that you have been under paying for a long period.
Have you been getting manual readings or estimates? If so for how long.
Might be worth reading your meter once a month and seeing exactly how much water you are using.

It's also worth checking water is continually flowing from your toilet cistern into the bowl.
It might not seem much but if that's continuos it's a lot of water to be losing (and having to pay for!).0 -
How long have you been renting this house?Have your previous bills been estimated?1

Using more water? Or simply been underpaying on your DD for a long time and have built up debt?
As said above, £238pa for a family of five is ludicrously low, surely you realised that?
Your previous bills will show if your consumption has gone up, but it won't be 500%, unless there is a leak.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
