Do you have a completely separate electricity circuit that doesn't activate until the timer kicks in... or....
You wire up your heating to the heating circuits only so they will get switched on by the meter timeswitch then back off again when the timer ends.
Does EVERYTHING in your house run cheaper at the off-peak times?
Yes. You wire up devices that you want turning on with the off peak or heating timeswitches. Otherwise, you wire the rest up to your permanent day rate which will give you 24 hour power. The day rate dials stop during the periods when the timeswitches kick in.
It's only different where you have completely different wired supplies like 1 credit meter and 1 off peak burst meter. In this scenario, you wire everything thats 24 hour up to the credit which runs & bills you 24 hours a day at it's 1 rate. Then you wire up your storage heaters to the off peak burst meter which is completely seperate and charges an off peak rate during it's bursts.
These seperate arrangements were replaced by E7/E10 etc because these new meter types give you the timeswitch element plus 24 hour power with the ability to recieve off peak rates for all devices during off peak times.
TIA...

The times can vary but it's usually a 3 burst affair in the night, morning & evening. It differs per old board region though.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
