Ive reported to social media and press. Ive put comment on twitter and reported to my local press and guardian. If you have any other suggestions please let me know - thanksmolerat said:You have no legal route. Thanks Mattyprice4004 but I wont accept that. Someone has to make a stand - and given my current medical condition, Ive the time to take this forward.mattyprice4004 said:It doesn’t really matter how you need their process to be - you only get to dictate the process if you work for them. You’re stuck with their process; you need to find a way to make it work for you I’m afraid.I’d ask them to wait a month, and use that time to eat what’s in the freezer.
Ive been passed round between DnG and currys for 2 months now - both referring me back to each other, both saying different things, both lying about their processes both doing nothing sensible to resolve - even though Ive given solutions.
I dont see why I should have to pay for a freezer, which doesnt work correctly, but in order for me to get replacement, I need to reduce items in it so their uplift process works in the way they want it to.
Thats not good customer service - they can take my credit card details and if I dont give them faulty freezer, they can charge me for replacement of the working freezer they've supplied.

How about Currys bring you a new freezer you get it up and running, transfer your food and then you pay for the second trip out to collect the faulty appliance?Yorklad37 said:

Wages for two men for a day and the cost to run the van for the day should cover it.

Of course there'd be a point to it, you'd be saving the food from going to waste and you'd just have less capacity for a temporary period. As others have pointed out, you don't have a right to an overlap between the new and old freezers, so I don't see what better option you're likely to have if you don't get a goodwill offer from Curry's.Yorklad37 said:
Ive spoke to friends and family - they dont have the space to store 7 drawers of frozen fooduser1977 said:Or find somewhere else to store the food.
Or eat it before the uplift!
I live alone with no car. 7 drawers of food will take a long time to eat up.
My point is that if I do as u suggested, I'm running a freezer which I cant add items to. Given cost of living increases I will look for bargains and add to freezer when they become available - and bulk cook when I can. Yr suggesting I run down a freezer - paying for energy to freeze till Ive used all items up and Im not able to add any other items to it, till its empty.
There's no point in having a freezer then. Ill be paying for a cupboard I cant put anything in.1 -
is this a joke?

Practices are designed to be efficient for the company. They are not going to change everything for one person.
It is your problem to solve.
check out your local freecycle. Ours had a working fridge freezer last month- going free.
You can pass it on when you no longer need it.
If you cannot take advantage of special offers put the money away and use it to stock up when your new freezer is up and working.
Put a plea in your local paper or facebook for someone to store the food for you. for a short time.

I admire your stance (I really do) but unfortunately I really don’t think you’ll get very far - but I wish you the best of luck.Yorklad37 said:

I may have misunderstood, but I thought D&G/Currys had already agreed to provide a replacement?Yorklad37 said:Olinda99 said:As you have found out, they won't do it that way.
Your only route is to buy a new freezer yourself. Once food swapped, get Currys to collect and refund.
I thought about that but then I've an extra freezer in my garage and no guarantees that Currys will replace the faulty one. Ive suggested that option to Currys/DnG.Ive also suggested they take my credit card details, provide new one, take old one away when Ive swapped items over, and if I don't give them the faulty freezer back, they can charge me for the new freezer.
Seems to me that the only way you are going to get anything like what you want is to have two freezers for a limited period of time. Are you sure you can't get D&G/Currys to agree to something involving you "buying" a replacement freezer and then D&G/Currys refunding you when they've picked up the broken one? Yes it will involve Currys making two trips to your property rather than one, so as somebody else suggested it might mean you agreeing to pay an agreed fee for the second trip.1 -
As there is only one shelf not freezing, the freezer is usable to a degree. I agree with others that the sensible (pragmatic) approach would be to run down the contents of the freezer to a level where the remainder can be kept in cool boxes for the day. Get the new freezer delivered and it can be restocked within a few hours.Given their reaction so far I very much doubt the either Currys or D&G will change their process however much you complain. Maybe you need to learn which battles are really worth fighting.1
