EDF want to install new non smart meters

I don’t think he is saying that. The phrasing is open to interpretation but I read it that he/she doesn’t want a smart meter and is clarifying that EDF will put in another non-smart meter because that is an unusual thing for them to do.SAC2334 said:
OP is saying EDF want to install a NONE smart meter, a dumb meter , and he wants a smart meter. That is probably a first on this subject .matelodave said:Whats wrong with a smart meter - you need a meter of some sort and as said above you should get accurate up to date billing. Mine saves me sending readings and I can read the meter myself without going outside. There's less radiation from a smart meter than there is from a smart phone that fries your brain or your gonads depending whether you are talking or carrying it in your pocket.
I also agree with Robin, the introduction and roll out has been a total shambles - they should have just got on with it and not given people the choice nor allowed the energy companies to do their own thing but made sure that it was integrated from the beginningSuppliers usually plead that none smart meters are not available..All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

The IHD3 (In House Display 3) is not a smart meter. The smart meter usually sits in your meter box below a communications hub. The latter establishes a Home Area Network: your IHD connects to the HAN. Pressing the NOW button should give you export (provided your IHD has the appropriate firmware)sevenhills said:

Just because the supplier, or a certificate, says a meter has come to its end of life for giving accurate meter readings doesn't mean that future readings will not be accurate a meter can continue to give accurate readings for years or decades after a supplier says it's come to its end of life usage.[Deleted User] said:The supplier is legally obliged to fit replacement meters at certificated end-of-life.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
All meters have an initial certificated life which can be extended based on in use failures and further testing. As far as I am aware, meters which have reached the end of their certificated life should be replaced.wild666 said:

From UK Gov Website:
When a design has been approved under GB national legislation, a manufacturer can submit meters, manufactured in accordance with the type approval, for certification. It is a requirement of the Electricity Act 1989 that all domestic meters used for billing purposes by a licensed electricity supplier are certified to show that, when tested following manufacture/refurbishment, they conform to the original type approval and operate within the prescribed levels of accuracy.Certification is performed by meter examiners appointed by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) or by authorised examiners employed by manufacturers/repairers of electricity meters that have been authorised to self-certify. This process is described in detail in the Meters (Certification) Regulations (SI1998/1566). This prescribes that all meters, following approval, be allocated a certification life (i.e. the time a meter is allowed to remain on the wall from initial certification).
