Didn't you read your bills over the last year?0

What rates have they quoted you (kWh & standing charges)?Motherofcelticdragons said:
However, I have a new dilemma. The fixed they are offering is (and ive just signed up to, prior to seeing Martin's email) works out at 3636pa. Martin said the prediction *from October* is average user would be on 3359pa. should i shop around?!0 -
Are those units cubic metres of (hundred) cubic feet? It makes a difference of about X 3!Motherofcelticdragons said:So, they seem to have worked quickly. They have taken a payment from my credit which, according to the whatsapp chat I'm having with them, is for the full year (i guess july is outstanding though). so that's reassuring!

My annual use for Elec is: 3254 units, and gas is 591... is that average??!
This is SO overwhelming!

The gas is just the units from the meeting reading (so 1397 in 2021, 1988 in 2022- a whole year later).
The current new v18 tariff is:Electricity
Next Online v18
Fixed term ends 05/08/2023
54.40 p/kWh 32.14 p/dayGas
Next Online v18

13.50 p/kWh 27.22 p/daythe whatsapp chat option is a bit tricky. They said they could reduce my direct debit because im in credit (now only by just over £100... not exactly a confident amount!) and then someone else said they could reduce the dd because my i'd 'paid for gas in one go' (!!!).

The gas figure you need is 6619 kWh (take the meter difference which is in m3)Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

How do we know it's a metric meter? No free lunch, and no free laptop

I have no idea if its metric... how do i tell?!0
-
It's written on the meter: either cu m or, if imperial, 100's cu ft.
Meters measure by volume, then to bill you it is converted to kWh, which varies due to the varying calorific value of the gas.
So a meter unit is not a billing unit.
The conversion factor is about 3.6, so if the meter is changed to metric from imperial but you are still erroneously billed in imperial, you will be paying 360% too much. So it matters. No free lunch, and no free laptop
