That is pretty much the cost of the line, the expensive part which needs maintaining whether you use it or not. Most providers will charge a few £ a month extra for broadband.MC39 said:Has anyone out there got a reasonably priced land line only contract?? BT charge approx £12/month if someone wants a telephone line with no broadband0 -
Take the number to a SIP service if you want to keep the number and have a mobile you could put the SIP app on.0

They were charging me over £20, plus £8 for evening and weekend calls, before I switched it away last week.gt94sss2 said:MC39 said:Has anyone out there got a reasonably priced land line only contract?? If you don’t have broadband on the line , and don’t have a fixed line broadband with someone else , BT offer a £7-£8 discount on the standard line rental , so that’s around £13-14 , if you have ( for example ) Virgin Media broadband then you don’t qualify for the discount , if you genuinely only had a phone service ,and no broadband from anyone , then you would have qualified for the cheaper line rental deal, but it’s ultimately the consumer responsibility to be on this deal if they want it , BT cant just assume those that only have LR with BT qualify, as they could have BB with someone else.onomatopoeia99 said:

The best option these days is Mobile which has unlimited calls, texts and start at £6 per month with GiffGaff and includes some data. The capabilities and relative low cost of the Smart phone make it a good solution for most people. Free training at the Apple Store.0

from BT site: If you don't have broadband and you're not planning to get it, you could get a discount on a BT landline. To find out if you're eligible, call us on 0800 587 0083.J_B said:gt94sss2 said:
