How can three  put charges up so much ,surely they will loose lots of customers ?

Because their contracts, as almost all of the mobile networks, allow for in contract inflation increases.

Out of contract? Vote with your feet and port your number to a cheaper network or sim only

If you mean mid contract, it is because the contract you signed and agreed to will have a mechanism for them to increase the amount by inflation + x% which was validated by the authorities as acceptable. The fact the inflation rate is so high at the moment means the increase is more.

They won't lose any more customers than usual as pretty much all of the big providers have very similar clauses. They will lose some people who get better deals elsewhere, but gain some from other providers customers who move to them due a a deal they like.
