Friday today, which means my duty day at work. I quite like duty, and it is always busy so the day flies by.I've got overtime tomorrow, which will be the last of my 7 days of work in a row. I'll be glad of the break after, because I have Monday off too. Going to see a friend and her baby. Hopefully also do some work in the garden. I do need to invest some time and money into painting the garden fence, as well as put down the landscaping bark I had delivered. I love the bark, it smells amazing!I found an overtime shift I can take for 13/4. I had thought with my holiday that I wouldn't be able to do any overtime in April, so I'm really pleased with that. When I finish work tonight, I need to go through the supermarket to get some bread. That was the reason I didn't make a sandwich for Saturday when I was doing them last week, I had run out.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

I've just tallied up my purse and put my cash receipts into YNAB. For some reason, I'm missing £20. I can't think of anything I bought, all my transactions look OK otherwise. I can only assume it has been stolen while I was at work? I've spent a lot on food this month, so I don't imagine that it is another food transaction I have missed, and I am sure all of my petrol transactions are documented. So I don't know where £20 has gone.

You seem pretty busy so perhaps it's natural for your body to work some of it out in nightmares. Not nice for you, but well done for finding coping strategies.
Good to hear the car is fine, but I'm sorry the money has disappeared. If it's exactly £20 I agree it might have been taken, but sometimes it's worth going through pockets, your phone case and all the usual suspects because if you're like me things go into pockets when I'm busy and I don't even notice. On the other hand, you are not likely to be as distractable as I am!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi Keep on Knitting,
Re the £20, is it possibly a change error? Or 2 x £20 stuck together handed over in error? The plastic notes do tend to cling on to one another lol.

That's a thought @backinbusiness, I could have handed it over by accident. I don't know. I decided to not take my purse in to work yesterday just to be careful. It sits in a staff room all day where anyone can access it, so I guess it isn't really sensible to leave it there.Fortunately no nightmares last night @Cherryfudge. That being said, I'll take nightmares over migraines. My body only has those two ways to show me I am stressed.Yesterday wasn't a bad shift, but there was some behaviour from a couple of staff that made me uncomfortable. I have another shift there in a couple of weeks, but I might try to avoid that ward going forward. Just a shame as I otherwise like that kind of ward usually.I did remind myself last night of the maths behind my overtime shifts. It's not a forever solution. I only need to do probably a maximum of 25 total to clear the student loan. They will get easier as I get used to them.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

I used to work nights and I found one-off nights were harder than doing them in a block, if that's any help? I'd work four then have ten days off so I had loads of recovery time (night shifts being longer than day shifts also meant a sort of compressed hours). My son used to do nights too, and sometimes a sort of split shift where they started at 1am. I've never tried that but I imagine if you can sleep at other times, it might be an option.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I used to do nights, and I agree that one on it's own is mean, whereas a sring in a row is manageable. I haven't done nights for a few years now. I wouldn't want to try to put a night shift into a weekend when I still have to do my normal week Monday-Friday. It would completely ruin the weekend, and I'm not a great daytime sleeper.I found the £20! It was hiding in a different bag. I really hoped this would be the case. I've never had anything stolen at work before, so it seemed unlikely, but I just couldn't work it out.I've done some work on the garden today, but I decided to sack it off and have a bath fairly early in the afternoon. Progress is progress though. I'm toying with buying a comfy chair for the patio. I've got an amazon voucher that I still don't know what to do with, so maybe that can contribute. I never buy from amazon so while it was a lovely gesture, it feels a bit useless so far.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)
