The standing charge

That is your opinion.0

I think micro generation is important as it raises awareness of usage and reduces the need for more new nuclear.0

Whether you use 1 unit or 1000 there will be a fixed cost to the network provider to you having a supply.Evan3020 said:If the standing charge was put on the unit price I would reduce even more, probably battery back up for my solar.
If you object to paying that then you could always opt to go off grid entirely.0 -
I am not objecting to paying, i am suggesting a way to encourage to people to generate their own and cut back on grid usage.0

If you object to paying that then you could always opt to go off grid entirely.Maybe it could be split - a fixed charge per day for having a supply.and another charge on the first X amount of units per month. Not that they want you to use less, they want you to use more.0 -
IF they have the capital available to install solar and a battery and all the controls............Evan3020 said:I am not objecting to paying, i am suggesting a way to encourage to people to generate their own and cut back on grid usage.1 -
Its about time new houses had to come with some solar installed, they are legislating for EV chargers on new houses.0

This bit is already done - the network supplier bills the energy supplier who then adds the other non-network charges & bills the end user.Astria said:BUFF said:

something like ~70-80% of new houses in Scotland already do.Evan3020 said:Its about time new houses had to come with some solar installed, they are legislating for EV chargers on new houses.0 -
What solar? If so then that is a huge step forward.0

Yes, 70-80% of new build in Scotland over the last few years has some degree of solar (usually PV).
There is concern though that when heatpumps become mandatory solar will suffer.0
