Dear OP and all
The auto renew tick box automatically online and many assume that over the phone not just RAC, though I have not been with them for over 20 yrs with Mercedes.
Many organsations do that in fairness to RAC
I always double, trebble check I not on auto-renew. Also double check if you want to be on auto-renew as I have seen complaints about people not being renewed (make sure you have enough funds or it wont happen)
RAC and the AA are good at trying to fix on the spot and Merc service are ace.
