Hi I have been reading all about Orange overides using freephone numbers, however I read somewhere about a service which only requires a prefix and not a two stage dialing proccedure. Does anyone know about a system like this??? Thanks

I don't know of any services that allow you to use a prefix instead of a full number, but as a workaround you can do the following on most Nokias, not sure about others:

Let's use 18866's access number as an example - 08081701701, and the number to dial is 12345, enter the following as an entry in your phonebook:

    08081701701p12345

The "p" can be entered by pressing the * button a couple of times. The "p" is a pause which waits a while before dialing the 12345.

Alternatively, you can add 08081701701+ to your phonebook. When this is dialed, it'll bring up a box where you can choose a number from your phonebook. This way you don't have to change any numbers, but for frequently dialed numbers it's still worth using the "p" as only one step has to be done to dial.

JimJim46,are you talking about the speed dial service available on some phones. eg Motorola V3. Where each number you put in phone book is allocated a short code.. Using the method outlined by Charlie 12 you would enter the full number in your speed dial facility as described. Then to call all you have do is press a button to access the speed dial facility, enter the short code, and away you go.

You can also use this facility. for numbers that dont require override access.
    PF.

AFAIK, freephone numbers are only free on Orange's own and "3" OVP tariffs.

They are not free on Vodafone OVP.
