Bendy_House said:But, even if you could raise the door a few mm, it wouldn't do much to help. What I think I would do - short of replacing these doors - would be to first extend the threshold width towards the right, until it's clear of the door. Use a piece of timber the same height as the existing thresh. Paint it all to match. Then add the ~half-inch layer of insulation on the floor from that point, adding the covering of your choice on top. Fit a decorative bead along the raised edge - between the extended threshold and the raised floor - for neatness.Yes, it'll be a 'step'. But that existing threshold already is. The threshold is - what? - a half--inch high? So the new raised floor will only be around 3/4" more than this - not a big step, and folk will already be 'aware' of steps as they walk through that doorway. We've had an extension built over our patio area, but kept the original PVC external door as it's largely glass - so lots of light - and also double-glazed - which helps as son has returned from Uni and turned it into a music studio... The point is, there's a ~50mm step there which is the PVC frame. It just isn't an issue in practice.Ok, I doubt you would be allowed to do this on an internal door, but this is a connie - anything goes...The good news about insulation is that, when it comes to floors, a little make a huge difference. A half-inch will be transformative - seriously. But cut them draughts around the edge - double-seriously.
