I have upped my estimate of time to up to 3 hours due to this.
I would double that estimate if I'm honest.

It will be interesting to see a sofa, chairs and a ladder in a small car.
  • As 'advice' is being ignored, there doesn't seem to be much point in repeating the same thing lol.

Advice? I am giving feedback, I already have factored in extra time but aware it may take even more than I think

Think of it as, I think it will take X amount of time, Y is the largest estimate but it may be Z.

    May not of been clear.

The original plan was move the big things as best could be done so the flat was mostly empty, smaller things like pots, pans, dried food, utensils, and some speakers for computer and the old tvs was to take in a van along with anything that couldn't be done in the 2-3 hour timeslot that way would lessen the stress of moving.

And I could advertise the spare bed, wardrobes, armchair etc for free so I had the room to put everything into that bedroom.

What I ended up doing was just throwing out the old bed and kept matress as it can be shoved in corner, threw out the armchair as it is comfy but worn now I have plenty of space for boxes, and in living room just put what I can in corner except pc which I would do on morning of move.

I was meant to move today but was let down by company as they said their van broke down, but I just tided the flat best I could and turned on pc and friend helped me move the bin bags of clothes to new place. I have found a more reliable firm with actual reviews (and real ones) who is doing it for the same price but may take longer they say which is fine.

All I have left to do is pack the kitchen things, put food/drinks into boxes/bag to put in friends car, put any rubbish in bags and vacumn after (leaving my older one here for that) and if the furniture isn't gone by Sunday throw it away (not fly tip in case anyone thinks) which will be collected by friend.

Another friend with a large car is arriving Saturday to take what is left.

Thats why I estimate a few days for cleaning, once everything is out I reckon a few bin bags or rubbish but may be more, old place has communal bins so can fit in a lot.

Buses are awkward but I can also take smaller things on them, should be a 5 minute trip to where I can get a bus that takes 10 minutes to new place almost door to door, the only worry there is buses not turning up so 30 minutes wait between buses (which is why friend is helping me)

I can walk it in 20 minutes.
  • Good lord, the move is still ongoing a week later....best of luck with the final bits!

I think the decision to change removal company was a good one. As per my post.., they can be a nightmare.

And I'm sorry,  communal bins aren't really for house removal discarded items, only household rubbish.  We get people leaving all sorts in ours, so then people start leaving rubbish bags on the floor, had to clean that up a few times now due to too full bins from people putting in stuff from moving in/out. Awful job to do, but couldn't leave the stinking rubbish there. We also only have one caretaker instead of 3, so he wasn't going to do it, and hasn't in the past.

And if there are any addressed items in the non household waste rubbish, council can charge you.  I had a neighbour who put a Xmas tree out (someone must have seen her, as obviously no address details on the tree, which surprised me but I must admit I did have an inside smile when she was outraged) and was charged. Nothing seems to stop people dumping stuff when they are moving though.

Might be better to take these items in bags to the local tip if your friend will help with that.  Sorry, I know its not what you want to hear.  I doubt the council will be paying for empty bin removal, ours are always brim full on rubbish removal day, we have less communal bins and less frequent removals now to cut costs. So everyone finds it difficult at times to put their rubbish in the communal waste area.
  • I’ve moved once or twice (13 times to be precise) and if you have the ability, then move the furniture first, then put all the boxes in a garage or single room.
remive one box at a time and unpack it. That way you don’t end up with loads of mess etc.
Also works if same day completion - the key really is all boxes into one room/garage, furniture set up into each room.

Move went best that it could, van was smaller than I thought but workers were very helpful especially so as it was done when we had that heatwave I kept telling them they can rest but they just wanted it over.

Did take longer than I thought but about 1 hour of that was traffic, whilst it was only a 5 minute drive we kept getting stuck in traffic for as much as 10 minutes (that's the problem with 3 roads merging)

Just got carpet put down at new place, except bedroom as had nowhere for the furniture to go but they are coming back new flat is amazing!
