Ryanair Refund issues

Hi there,
I am trying to get a cash refund for a cancelled flight from Ryanair's side. I was told it will appear in my wallet on my Ryanair account. Nope. Nothing appeared there. I called and requested for the refund and was told it will be refunded to the original payment card ending with numbers that I don't know about. I told the chap on the phone that this cannot be my card as I don't own a card with those numbers. He said he can't do anything I will have to complain through a form on their webpage. I did, no response as of yet. I called again today and the new chap told me it has been processed on 15th July being transferred to a card in my name with yet another for digits at the end. I have pulled my credit reports as I was getting increasingly worried that someone had opened a credit card in my name. None of the reports show any cards held in my name with those numbers. Where does Ryanair then get those card details from? It is really frustrating as the people you talk to on the phone only have limited capacity in dealing with issues. I have now told them that I will contact my solicitor and take this to the small claims court if they do not transfer my money to the given account details (which I provided in the complaint). I am now curiously waiting whether this will actually get me my money back. If this fails, I will contact the CAA team hoping they can help. I will certainly never book any flights with Ryanair again. I wonder if anyone else had these issues?

Did you book through a travel agent? If so, the refund would be made to the agent's credit card.

Thank you. Yes I have just figured this out actually. However now I am sitting in a waiting loop with them on the phone. I have been cut off once already but I am not giving up. The gentleman informed me that the money will be transferred to the travel agency card first and that I will have to notify the travel agency of a cancelled flight and only then can the refund fully be processed. When I log into my account on their webpage my flight has clearly disappeared, so the agency should be aware really. However, I bet this is just another way of making it more difficult for customers to get their refund. The gentleman on the phone from the travel agency said he can now see the cancellation but he needs to double check on something and will be back with me in 2 minutes. Well that was the point I was cut off. When I waited first to talk to someone I was Nr. 56 in the waiting queue. I am still trying again as I bet he didn't start the refund process properly. I am now Nr. 68 in the waiting queue. It's lucky I have time today to deal with this... I will update!0 -
which travel agency? have you also checked their terms and conditions to see what fees you may be charged for them processing your refund? (these apply even if it is the airline that cancels)0

Oh sugar, it's Mytrip. I had no idea. This is so unfair. I also don't get why Ryanair is allowed to only cancel the outgoing flight but then the return flight I won't get back as it's still going ahead. I obviously had to change my travel plans now and was lucky enough to get a different flight but not to the same City. I am taking a different route now (had to really). I just feel if the airline cannot take me to a certain City, how can they take me back? It just doesn't make a lot of sense other than cashing in on customers....0

Refund fee is £39, great! I have learnt a lot by going through this process. Never ever will I book anything through a travel agent again, nor with Ryanair! I hope that many people will read this and follow. I honestly feel something should be done about airlines and travel agents ripping customers off like that. It is not fair, especially with the ever increasing cost of living nowadays.

MyTrip is part of the Swedish based ETraveli Group. A selection of online businesses with a nice bit of clever IT that happen to sell flight tickets. Any support or backup post booking will be lacking. To get a cheap ticket price all that customer support stuff is just extra unnecessary cost to the business, so it’s cut out. You don’t pay for service, so you either don’t get it or you pay for any extra things you want them to do for you, like process a refund on a cancelled flight.
Not sure why anyone would use a 3rd party online intermediary to book a RyanAir flight.1 -
