BA flight price spike

I've been tracking British Airways flights from Gatwick to Cancun for my honeymoon next July, and the rates have been perfectly reasonable for some time, with my dates not being available.
However, I've now come to view prices for my actual date of travel (10th July) and the cost of an outbound flight more than doubles from the days leading up to it!
Has anyone experienced this before and, if so, might it simply be because the date is newly released? I can't think of any reason why that particular date should see such a spike....I'm flummoxed!

It could be that the lower fare classes are yet to be released0

Airlines typically release the lowest fare buckets at some point through the ticket being on sale, not at the beginning. This is justified in most cases by having a maximum pre-book period before release for general sale in the fare rules.
In the next few days these should become available, if not these may have been classed as 'premium' dates.💙💛 💔0 -
As above. The flight has only just gone on sale (within GDS range as the airlines might term it) and the cheaper fares might not be loaded.
Have a quick look at ww.ba.com/holidays and see if available and cheaper there by adding a hotel/car (even for a day) to create a package. If not just leave it a few days/week and check again on ww.ba.com

Thank you, all.
I think I'll have to show a bit of (rare) patience and look again in a week or so to see if that helps...0
