Problem with texts

Options
Last, Saturday I exchanged text messages with someone that has a non internet phone. I don't know how, but they sent after their last message to me they sent an emoji of a rose. Thinking they might have upgraded to a smart phone, I sent them two photo's.

Back came the message " undelivered". I deleted that post.

Since then, I've sent seven texts, after a short time, back comes the message "undelivered".

Because the recipient is old and unwell, thought they might have inadvertently blocked me. So yes, it's a worry.

Via a third party, they have used the recipients phone and texted me. That proved THEIR phone is OK. I replied an acknowledgment, it's come back "undelivered".

I appreciate there have been three replies, thankyou, but the page is treating my post as spam which it is not.
To answere the question, my phone is android samsung a 70 and hers, a Doro.

To my knowledge I havent touch anything this week. Today I uninstalled Duo which I never use. I have Messenger and Messages on my phone, but because the recipient has an ordinary phone, I text her. I have Messenger and Messages on my phone. Presumably the latter is google messages.

If the recipient has an old-style phone you can't send using Google messages you have to use standard SMS.

As for the cog - well try it

On Android SMS was enhanced recently with the chat feature for advanced messaging. It may have been that by sending pictures you switched that contact from SMS messaging to Chat messaging.

Not sure how the messenger apps on Samsung now work (with their awful desire to skin everything with their own app/ interfaces) but in clean Android in the messages app if you go to settings > General there is a setting for Automatically Send as a text (SMS/MMS) which should be on.
  • Yes, I had to resortto double posting because for whatever reason, I couldn't get to complete the post.

    O/P here.bearing in mind I rarely text, I've discovered:-
    * the recipient has a Doro smart phone, no internet connection by choice.
    * untill minutes before I sent  a photograph to her in the belief she DID have the facility to view them, ALL texs gor through.
    * in my address book, there is the option to phone or text. that is the route I use for her.
    * it seems that by sending a photograph, the phone changed from SMS to MMS (I only know what that is via google).
    * today I googled "text messaging services" and third down was "Google Messages". Installed that, noticed it had "chat" feature. Because I'd read that might be the conflict issue I've turned that OFF. I ussume I did right.
    * if not, should I be looking to find another text messaging service?.
    * yesterday, I somehow "aquired a text service I think it was called UI messaging. I decided to try it, sent the recioient a text and it DID get through. BUT, the page was a nightmare of ads, flashing, popups etc so I uninstalled it, Tried sending a text and it was undelivered. That tells me my phone is OK, but the settings have been corrupted?.

I shall pause now, and see it anyone can identify anything. Oh, please don't be TOO technical, my mid 80 brain couldn't take it.

On my Samsung A52s I have both apps, the Samsung and the Google SMS apps are both called "Messages". Both app icons are a speech bubble, Google has three horizontal lines, Samsung has three horizontal dots. Only one app can be active (default) at a time. Which do you have @[Deleted User]?
