Texts undelivered

Last, Saturday I exchanged text messages with someone that has a non internet phone. I don't know how, but they sent after their last message to me they sent an emoji of a rose. Thinking they might have upgraded to a smart phone, I sent them two photo's.
Back came the message " undelivered". I deleted that post.
Since then, I've sent seven texts, after a short time, back comes the message "undelivered".
Because the recipient is old and unwell, thought they might have inadvertently blocked me. So yes, it's a worry.
Via a third party, they have used the recipients phone and texted me. That proved THEIR phone is OK. I replied an acknowledgment, it's come back "undelivered".
So, any Idea's please.

Is your phone Apple or Android? What texting app are you using? If you are using the Google Messages app on an Android phone make sure the chat functionality is turned off.

If it's android make sure it's set to send via SMS only
